Eating a Book (#1)

“Don’t you think it’s strange that I’ve been reading?”, He Is Legend ask in their song called “Eating a Book”. I really have no clue what that song is actually about, but I think that particular line relates to me considering it used to be like pulling teeth to get me to read anything other than The Bible. So, here’s what I’ve been reading in the last year or so:

The World As I Remember It: Through the Eyes of a Ragamuffin – Rich Mullins

This is a collection of writings in magazines and journals by one of the greatest Christian songwriters who ever lived. It’s an absolute treat to see the world through Rich’s eyes.

Don’t Waste Your Life – John Piper

This book is about keeping your priorities straight and your life and mind focused on the kingdom to come. I highly recommend this book to any Christ-follower.

Backstage: How I Almost Got Rich Playing Drums in a Christian Hardcore Band – Aaron Lunsford

This book was written by the drummer of As Cities Burn, a band I have been listening to for about ten years. If you’re interested in an inside look at the band, touring life, and the Christian hardcore music “industry”, than give this one a read.

Right Thinking In A World Gone Wrong – John MacArthur

This is about taking a biblical mindset to things like immigration, homosexual marriage, abortion, environmentalism, etc. This book probably isn’t relevant at all these days, is it?

 The MacArthur Study Bible (NASV)

Written by God, with the hands of men, you might say this book is pretty important. For my study at home, I use this New American Standard Version with very detailed and helpful commentary from John MacArthur.
